Then started over with a fresh factory image. When this happened, I started over with a clean slate, and kept checking the boxes in CCleaner until I reproduced the issue again. That is the case with how I discovered the 'Windows Services' was the culprit for corrupting the sign-in registry key. For me, I am not afraid of tinkering with the registry and starting over with a fresh factory image. Since they are both sign-in features, I can only assume that it would have the same effect. With 'Windows Services' selected under Registry of CCleaner, I only know that it would corrupt the registry key related to the Windows Hello PIN feature. I never set this feature up under Windows Settings > Accounts > Sign-in options. Like the Surface Pro X, the HP ENVY x2 has the 'Windows Hello Face' sign-in capability.
